Afternoon tea at Garden Kitchen

Am so thankful for delicious food, good company and a lovely day at work! Morning was spend rushing around confirming wholesale orders (yes, we do sell wholesale to giftshops, specialty food shops, cupcake shops, you name it!) and making up Baked By Me’s mouth watering White Chocolate & Cranberry cookie mixes. I cannot believe it is September and everyone is gearing up for Christmas! 🙂 Oh sunshine, linger on for a bit more please.

I am a huge fan of afternoon tea and decided on Garden Kitchen for lunch! The location was just perfect, right in the centre of Newcastle City Centre, in Eldon Garden especially if you want to do a spot of cheeky shopping!

They have a slightly different take on afternoon tea, they offer ‘picnics’. Two options were available and my friend and I opted to share the dessert heavy picnic with an extra portion of hand cut chips!

The picnic came with a huge jug of homemade lemonade and when the food arrived, I actually cooed! Everything was so pretty and presented on a little picnic table! The hand cut chips and sandwiches were scrumptious, loved that even the sauces came in little jam jars. Just have to add that their mustard butter was really good with the toast!

The desserts definitely stole the show! I was so impressed with the passionfruit jelly served with a passionfruit cream in a shot glass and the lemon granola dessert in the little kiln jar. Do not be fooled by their size, they were so rich and such a treat! Will have this picnic again and again for their desserts.

If you find yourself in Newcastle, I wholeheartedly recommend casual lunch at The Garden Kitchen!
